Every day we get asked many questions about Credit Reporting and Debt Recovery. We have done our best to answer a few of the more common questions here.

  • How can I pay my debt?

  • What if I can't afford to pay the total amount all at once?

    If you are unable to pay your account in full, then please call 0800 DEBTOR (332 867) or email and quote your reference number to discuss a payment arrangement.

  • What do I do if I have received a demand letter from ICMS?

    If you receive a final demand letter from us then please call us immediately on 0800 DEBTOR (332 867) to discuss the matter further.

  • What happens if I choose to avoid contact with ICMS?

    If you continually avoid contact with us, this may have a negative impact on your credit rating. This can affect your ability to raise finance, find a job or rent a property. Legal action may also be commenced against you without further notice which can result in the debt being deducted directly from your salary/wages and/or bankruptcy against you. We continue to try to contact you as long as we are collecting the debt.

  • How can I request my personal information?

    All requests for personal information must be made in writing. We have a form available for you to complete to do this as efficiently and effectively as possible. Please contact us on 0800 DEBTOR (332 867) to request a personal information request form which we can post or email to you. We will respond within 20 working days with the requested information and we may charge you for any costs we incur during the process.

  • What are your prices?

    We charge a commission for our services on a no collection, no commission basis. Therefore, our fees are taken directly from the funds collected. In the event, the debt is not recovered, there is no cost to you. Further to this, if your terms allow it with your debtor, we can add the cost of collection on top of the principal amount and collect this from the debtor. Our commission percentage varies between 25% - 35% depending on various factors such as the age of the debt, the volume of debt to refer and the amount outstanding.

  • How can I make a complaint?

    Having the ability for parties that interact with us to be able to raise a complaint is important to us. We are committed to ensuring that we provide a service based on professionalism and integrity.

    To enable us to resolve your complaint, please provide us with the following details:

    • Your full name
    • Your contact details
    • Your postal address
    • Sufficient details about the complaint that will enable us to undertake an investigation (e.g. nature of complaint, dates, names, amounts, client, reference numbers, staff member)

    All complaints will be acknowledged within 24 hours of receipt and we will endeavour to provide the results of the investigation within 14-30 working days.
